About Us

The Piedmont Regency Dancers have shared a love of English country dancing and Jane Austen for over ten years.  We meet monthly in Upperville, Virginia to learn dances from the tradition of Jane Austen, both its roots back to 1650's England and its modern 21st century branches, with special attention to the dances of the Austen period.  We host predominantly period attire balls several times a year, and provide dance demonstrations at historical venues such as the Warrenton Fauquier Heritage Day, Mount Vernon, Stratford Hall, Long Branch, and most recently, the Aldie Mill.

If you have watched productions of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Northanger Abbey, or Emma, the figures and movement for this traditional social dance will seem familiar.  Please join us to learn this traditional social dance form.

No partner is necessary; please wear comfortable clothing you can move it, and soft-soled, non-marking shoes.
